6 weeks ago some jws came to my door.
i've been inactive for 8 years.
after they gave their presentation i told them i was inactive.
People are people.
JWs can be nice and kind. JWs can also be twats.
Non JWs can be nice and kind. Non JWs can also be twats.
JWs are usually better at hiding their own idiotic behavior because it doesn't look good for the religion and their status.
The world is generally a lot less sh*t than it was 50 years ago. Yes their are wars, but there has always been wars. Social media just makes it easier to report on these wars in greater detail, it doesn't mean these things weren't happening before.
The JWs are just a nice warm hug that can ruin your life.
You are basing your view on "immorality" on the Jehovah's witness worldview. (and the bible).
Remember, people are people. If you were in a burning building, the majority of non JW people would risk their life to save you. Don't let the WTBTS tell you any different.
sometimes i get a strong curiosity to start dabbling into other religions, other faiths, you know?
really different ones such as islam, judaism, hinduism, etc.. has anyone here looked into something else?
has your spirituality been satisfied by any other than christianity?.
Once i finally get out of the mess that is JWism, i'll probably ditch religion altogether.
If there is a god(s) ,i'm sure he (they) will understand.
as with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.
here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.
jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".
The watchtower underline thing.
Stupid rule. Who needs to underline something to study it?
greetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.
and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.
but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.
1975 was very effective in getting people very busy.
The question remains, will there be another "1975". I'm guessing once they are done with their expansions and the like, they will throw out another date. Millions will leave the religion, and they will have billions worth of property assets at their dispoale.
Well, that's what i would do if i were a cult leader.
there are literally about thirty young single very good looking sisters in this one kingdom hall under the age of 30. that is just one kingdom hall.
in the circuit there are literally hundreds of young beautiful jw girls under 30 who are single and anxious to get married.
about two years ago, this one single good looking brother who is about 30 years old and who is an elder married this plain looking sister who is 59 years old.
It's a no brainer.
Pros of younger girl:
Cons of younger girl:
so, i left about 5 years ago and at that time, the official ruling on number of members was a little over 6 million.
i google jw out of boredom the other day and find they are now claiming 8 million members.
sooooo.... hold on 2 million increase in 5 years?
remember, this is baptisms growth, this is "publisher" growth which includes unbaptized publishers.
In the western world, only about 0.2% - 0.5% of the attendance are getting baptised. If you take another 0.02% for 2 more assemblys during the year, you have a 0.6% - 0.9% growth over the year.
This figure doesn't show the amount of people leaving (dying, dfd, falling off the radar etc).
In an average cong of about 100 in the western world, i would imagine in a year, that at least 1 elderly person will die, and perhaps 1 will get dfd or fall off the radar. That is 2% of the congregation disappearing in a year.
Of course, you have to account for "young ones" getting to be unbaptized pubs.
But if your looking at baptized publishers, the WT has a serious problem.
Another side point, worldwide population growth is 1.14%. So if you use the figure of 0.9% getting baptized each year in developed lands, the WT is actually in decline already.
Numbers can lie.
am3rd life story is in may 15th 2015 study wt.. after reading, he sounds very mental unstable.
i know you guys will be saying "yeah, obviously he is"...but we don't have any concrete evidence saying he has a mental condition.. has anyone ever dug a little deeper, perhaps try to find some people who would have known him from the army?
i mean, he probably doesn't know that many people, he was only serving for a year for christs sake.
Any guy who puts a 3rd after his name has to have a bit of cash.
He's a pathetic excuse of a man. Actually, his sons look like pathetic excuses for men. Not their fault really...
Most GB members i can just about tolerate. He is an exception. Repulsive "man".
i wasn't entirely serious on older posts that our whole universe could technically be a computer simulation and this next thing isn't claiming that but it seems to nudge it closer to that possibility.
as taken from here http://www.vox.com/2015/6/29/8847863/holographic-principle-universe.
"the idea isn't that the universe is some sort of fake simulation out of the matrix, but rather that even though we appear to live in a three-dimensional universe, it might only have two dimensions.

The part where he says in the article that his sons are in the truth, and they make me and my wife look good? Seriously?? WTF? That's a f**ked up quote right there.
Also, from baptism (1971) to GB appointment (2005) it took him 34 years to rise to the top. That is an alarmingly short period of time for a convert who was 21 at his baptism.
He must have licked some serious ass to rise that quick.
I want that mans name and reputation dragged through the mud. Harsh? yes. Justified? Defiantly.
